Sarge is one of the old and playable characters in Cars Mater-National.

He appears in the intro for Ornament Valley, when Mater thinks that the valley is being haunted by the Ghostlight. He later appears in the cut-scene of Rustbucket Grand Prix, when he is searching for anything in the tunnel with his night-vision goggles. Gudmund then appears, introducing himself to Sarge and Lightning McQueen. He challenges them to a race in the dark tunnel, which McQueen says that he can't race because he doesn't have headlights and that he's scared of crashing. But then Sarge gave him his night vision goggles, so now he could race in the dark tunnel.
He appears in Fillmore's Nature Preserve, Ornament Valley Airport and is the second car in one of the teams in Luigi and Guido's Team Relay 2.

Sarge is confirmed to be the main plotline character instead of Lightning.
